Oxidized sterling silver and Swarovski crystal.  Small size, safety pin style closure for all your knits. For use with shawls, wraps, scarves and cardigans & cowls. Wearer can either “pierce” the knitted fabric in between the stitches, or gather the knitted fabric (i.e. for a shawl, wrap, scarf or cowl) in between the safety pin “arms”, and clip the pin closed so it surrounds all the material without piercing it (see final two thumb nail images). This small size is good for any fingering weight shawl, wrap or scarf, but also works on larger lighter weight yarn fabrics. It’s too small for any heavier weight large yarn project, larger sized shawl or wrap. For those larger projects made with heavier weight yarn, either the medium, large, or extra large (depending on how bulky your garment is) sized Beaded Safety Pin is a better choice.

Completely hand wrought by Lisa in her Toronto Studio. Made from oxidized sterling silver, sterling Bali Beads, and an assortment of three colours of crystal and/or pearl Swarovski beads. Each one is carefully handmade one at a time, and therefore uniquely beaded.  The image above is the exact Beaded Safety Pin you will receive.  This pin is beaded (left to right- as appearing in 5th close up bead image) Swarovski Smoke coloured BeCharmed crystal bead, Pave Set BeCharmed Ruby Crystal bead & Jet/Black BeCharmed crystal bead. Each pin is approximately 2.0″ in length, 1.0″ wide, and any of the Swarovski crystals or pearls are about 1/2” in diameter. Pin weighs 18 grams, which is much lighter than the all precious metal Coiled Safety Pin, so can be used with lighter weight yarn projects.

The Swarovski crystals move freely on the safety pin, and if you grab a really generous portion of knitted fabric, you can adjust where you would like the beads to sit once it is affixed to the garment.  You can also adjust the pin arm, opening it up before affixing to your garment, or once it’s on the garment, squeezing it slightly together to have a tighter fit.

This pin is shown on a cowl knit with Songbird Fibre’s bulky weight yarn in the Catbird colourway.  Pattern is the Honey Cowl, available for free on Ravelry.
